Terms of Service
Last updated October 29, 2026
These terms cover classes, memberships and payments at YourKarate.Today, the karate school of Sensei Eugene Boure in Brooklyn, New York. By booking a class or buying a plan, you agree to them. We kept them short and in plain English.
Who we are
These terms are between you and Eugene Boure, a sole proprietor doing business as YourKarate.Today ("we", "us"). Main dojo: 1123 Ocean View Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11235. You can reach us at +1 909 990 9935 or yourkarate.today@gmail.com.

Payments and automatic renewal
- You can pay at the dojo or online. Online payments are processed securely by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
- Monthly memberships are charged automatically on the same day each month as your first payment, until you cancel. You get a receipt for every charge.
- If a payment fails, we'll let you know and try again. Classes may be paused until the balance is paid.
- If prices change, current members get at least 30 days' notice before the new price applies.
- Belt tests, uniforms and tournament entries are not included in plan prices. We always tell you the cost in advance.
Cancellations and refunds
There are no long-term contracts. If something isn't working for your child, talk to Sensei first. Often it can be fixed.
- Monthly memberships
- Cancel any time before your next billing date by text, WhatsApp or email. There is no cancellation fee. Classes continue until the end of the month you already paid for; partial months are not refunded.
- Intro
- Full refund if you cancel before the first class. After the first class the Intro is non-refundable, but you can reschedule the second class.
- Class packs
- Full refund before the first class. After that, packs are non-refundable, and unused classes expire at the end of the pack period.
- School Year
- Full refund within 14 days of purchase if no classes were attended. After that, unused full months are refunded pro rata.
- Registration fees
- Non-refundable.
- Private lessons
- Free to cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours ahead. Later cancellations and no-shows count as a used lesson.
- Medical reasons
- If a doctor says a student can't train, we'll pause the plan or refund unused classes. Just send us a note.
- Classes we cancel
- If we cancel a class, you get a make-up class or a credit.
- Refunds go back to the original payment method and usually arrive within 5–10 business days.
- Questions about a charge? Contact us first and we'll sort it out quickly.
Pauses and missed classes
- Pausing a membership
- Monthly memberships can be paused for up to 2 months a year, for example for summer vacation, travel or illness. Tell us before your next billing date; you aren't charged while the plan is paused.
- Missed classes
- Let us know and make the class up at another group class of the same level, within the same month or pack period. Make-ups don't carry over and can't be exchanged for cash.
Safety and health
- Karate is a physical activity with contact, and like any sport it carries some risk of injury. Students learn to fall, control and respect before any partner work, and sparring is supervised and age-appropriate.
- Before the first class, tell us about any medical conditions, injuries or allergies. A parent or guardian must agree to a child's participation, and we may ask you to sign a participation form at the dojo.
- Students shouldn't train when unwell. Sensei may stop any student from training for safety reasons.
- Parents are responsible for their children before and after class. Please drop off and pick up on time.
Dojo etiquette
Respect for Sensei, other students and the dojo is part of karate. We may suspend or end a membership after repeated unsafe or disrespectful behavior. In that case, we refund any unused prepaid classes.
Photos and video
We sometimes take photos and videos in class and share them on our website and social media. If you'd rather your child didn't appear, tell us and we'll respect that.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows the current version, and members are told about important changes before they take effect.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York.
